I brought my mare in with her 6 day old foal who was having respiratory problems. We had to drive for 4 hours to get there and were expecting that we would be receiving the best care possible. That was far from what we experienced. The staff were rude and cold. Our filly “Cranberry” ended up passing away. We came to get her the next day to find no one there to help us out. They refused to remove all the medical stuff on her stating “we don’t do that”. During drop off instead of starting treatment right away they were more worried about payment which right off the bat was over $2000. Mind you it is late at night at this point. We paid it and said goodbye to our precious filly anxious to pick her up healthy in a few days. Her death was not their fault, that is our local vets doing for not catching this in her foal exam. But nevertheless the whole experience was a total Nightmare. We were told we would be getting at least a few hundred dollars back since she was there for less than 24 hours and they didn’t do much. But instead they said we would receive $50. We are still waiting for that to come through hoping it does but it showed up in our account as $0… Long story short, go somewhere else if you want top of the line care and people you can trust

My first experience here was 9 years ago. My dog was getting nose bleeds and we suspected he had a tumor. They did the cats an he needed and confirmed then cauterized the tumor. They let me know options. Aside from making him comfortable there was a whole lot. Prognosis was 2-10 months. My baby dog passed away in my arms 10 months later, home and comfortable. This year a friends new puppy sustained a fracture and quotes in the Portland area were extremely high. I remembered my experience at OSU and the care Buna received. I suggested they look into them. 2 days later we were on our way to Corvallis. The care was thorough, compassionate, and the attending vet took the time to answer and review everything with us while the 4th year student started off each interaction. They were both great. The Puppy was able to get the surgery he needed, came home the next day, and service cost was reasonable given the circumstances. I’d absolutely recommend them without hesitation.

During our first visit before scheduling surgery, a student let us know she’d be taking our dog to the back to examine and then the vet would check over to make sure she did it right and she’d be right back. At no point were we told this would take over 2 hours, or whether we could leave the room we were in to go to the bathroom, etc. I chalked this up to inexperience with communication on the student’s part. On the day of surgery they had us drop off 11 hours before the surgery was scheduled, which seems excessive and unkind given the very real risk of death, but I mentioned this on requested feedback and hoped they would be better. Finally, yesterday they sent me an email telling me to fast my dog and be prepared for an all day appointment and I called to confirm that this would not be the case because he just needed his incisions checked. I was assured this was an error and that his appointment would take no more than 20 minutes. They once again took him back to check his incisions, which took 40 minutes, and told me his medication would be ready in 10 minutes - it took another *50 minutes* for that to be completed and for me to get checked out because the front desk people were confused. The vet who performed the surgery was great; but the clinic itself is ran in a way that is completely disrespectful and incompetent.

Can’t recommend this hopsital enough!! Our new puppy had a medical condition we couldn’t figure out. Leave it to the hospital, with incredible students and experienced vets, and surgeons with great oversight and skills, who determined he needed one kidney to be removed! They saved our puppies life and have been there for us every step of the way. Amazing communication and efficient scheduling, your pet is just as important to them as you!
